The year is 2004. Your polyphonic ringtone habit is sending you broke. George W Bush is sworn in for a second term, and in spite of everything going on, the most controversial thing is a wardrobe malfunction at the Super Bowl. T -, 20 rewind 20 years with Joe and Mel.

Week of 10 October 2004.

The rest is history.

You know what?

I'm very forgetful 20. Hello.

There. Stop trying to make fetch happen.

What are we waiting for?

This is harder than I thought it would be. My fellow Americans. Let's roll.

Let's roll. Indeed on another week where we rewind to this week in history 20 years ago on the podcast that we like to call t -, 20, it's a very simple concept now available on audible.

Isn't that books?

Yeah, and podcasts as well. Anything that you can hear can be on audible. Yes. Fair enough. Thanks. Thanks to Buzz Sprout, our our podcasting service of choice that aggregates to all these platforms, some of which I didn't even know we're on. It's a it's a fantastic brave new world, the future that we live in, but we're not about the future. We're about the past t -, 20 like I said with your host Joe and Mel. Hello, Mel.

Hello, the past we are digging up this week is the 10th to the 16th of October 2000 and.

Four, so the five families in New York are the Genovese family. There's the Gambino family. There's the Lucchese family. There's the Colombo family and the Banano family.

You're going to find out all about. Well, not all about, but you're gonna if you if you weren't sure about how the Mafia families worked in New York. Well, this this is the episode. For.

You have an explainer on the mafia.

I I I mean we're not a true crime podcast per se. But you know, there was some stuff happening with the mafia 20 years ago.

We did, we we looked up as you see, so you.

Have some stuff and we'll throw a lot of allegedly's in there as.

Exactly.

Well, I think. Umm.

We'll we'll share some stuff with you about that.

No. Yelpers, a Tucson restaurant owner, has launched an All out war with Yelp.

War against Yelp Yelp was born this time 20 years ago. Well, it's and such an informative little website it has become.

Once.

Ohh yeah, so helpful in trying to. Find the best noodles in town.

Yes, especially if you're a keyboard warrior and you're outraged about said noodles.

Your food packages. Have come back for traces of drugs.

A retired Australian couple has just been told the bag they have brought back for a family friend has packets of food that may contain the precursive drug that is used to manufacture ice.

We'll come back with prices of drones.

It was a great TV show, wasn't it?

Thought I loved that show and whenever you heard. That. You're like, ohh. She's gonna go down.

Something scanned. Something's come up on the scan in the baggage.

It's gonna be good.

Or in someone's ****.

Yes. Wow, that's exciting. And it escalated very quickly. All of that and more tonight on T -. 20, it's. It's that was a great show. I can't wait to talk about that one.

Ohh, loved it. Speaking of in trouble with the law, were you a prank call maker back in the day? Back in the landline days?

Yes. Ohh as a kid it was such a naughty thing to do. Yeah. Yeah, I did. Used to make prank calls for $10 from a radio station, $10. A radio announcer? Yes.

Wasn't it? Did you? Did you partake? Yeah. Ohh did you? Did you give out prize?

Make people cluck like a chicken for a new car and stuff like.

That you might have got me I had. To bark like a dog one.

See.

You quite possibly may have been. I just cut it. Well, it was a Rotary phone, so we just kind of picked a random number.

Is that?

Great. Thanks.

I used to use the Telstra phones the the booths that were out in the street back in the day. There was one where we lived. There was one on every street like our street had one just near the laneway and the street below us had like a 11. There was 2 right next to each other. Yeah. And so we thought it was great to get in there and ring the fault line.

Oh, you.

Yeah. Uh-huh.

Oh, the Telstra fault line.

Like ohh this this telephone box is faulty or yeah I know it was pretty obvious or there was one where we said we got we we were kids and we were stuck in the phone box and we couldn't get out and then they were about to put it through to emergency services. Then we thought we'd.

Then how are you calling us from it? Yeah. Nice one, genius.

Taken a bit too far.

Don't try this at home, kids. It's it's not advisable and it's a major inconvenience.

There's no, there's no. Probably phone boxes these days anyway.

Yes, there is. And they're free, yes, and they're free.

It is there.

I remember we went down the.

There's one down near the Jerrabomberra community centre and it's 100% free. You don't have to pay for payphones anymore, yeah.

Coast.

This. Let me go.

OK, go and use it. Well, I remember we went down the coast staying at South Durras and there was one pay phone in all of South Durras. And because their holiday houses, they don't have phones in.

Hmm.

Oh.

Them.

Really.

So when you wanted to call, so we used to call my grandmother each week we were down the beach. So Yep, we're still here. We're still good. We're OK. We're having a good time.

Yep.

You'd have to lie. And up for an hour could be standing on the side of the road for an hour to use the pay phone, and you'd just be watching the people in front of you and they'd get out. More coins and. Start putting them into rolling.

You'd be furious. Yes, God.

Ice and they've been on there for 20 minutes. Already and you tap in your watch.

Live.

Living in the dark ages, what do you have to queue up for?

Bread as well. Isn't that amazing though? To think that you'd have to stand in line to make a phone call. And now I feel it's come full circle and I'm getting my comeuppance because.

You know.

And line up for a phone. You'll come up and right.

Because of the the. The robot calls from the dark web. I think I'm all over the dark web.

Ah.

I think 90% of my incoming calls are scams, at least 90%, and then the rest is just you and.

A scams, right? Yeah. Well, you know, you try and do the right thing. You take out some insurance or, you know, you sign up with the phone company and all of a sudden all your info is on the dark web and suddenly you're getting scam calls all the time.

Hmm.

You're getting phone calls. I got 1 today and I don't know why, but for some reason I thought ohh you know. What gonna gonna gonna give this guy a chance? I'm gonna play along and. See. How good he is, see if I can be convinced so it starts with hello. This is no insert name here from Amazon. I'm ringing to tell you that someone is using your account to buy the new iPhone.

Right. Yes.

Out of.

Right.

And so I said.

Are they ohh dear?

I said no, sorry. Where were you from? And he says Amazon said what? What? What was that? Can you say it again? Says Amazon. I've never heard of that. What's Amazon? Can you tell me a bit? About it this. Sounds good. You work there. Tell me what's what's an Amazon?

Yes.

And so then. He explains that you know this website and you buy things and someone's trying to buy things with my account. And I said, well, that's really interesting, isn't it? Because I've never heard of it. So how could I even have an account and?

It's a really tall, blonde chick. Yeah. Yep.

Hmm.

So how long is this going? To go for it.

So you're stringing him along.

It's well, no, I'm just playing. I'm playing dumb and he's like. She seems dumb. I reckon we can trick her. So then he said no, no, no, I didn't say someone's using your account. I said somebody is using your email address and then he says my email. Address.

That's not what he said, though, he said.

And he goes.

I was using.

Yeah, I know. But then he changed it. He changed hat. Yes, he switched talking points.

Oh, we. These narratives wow. But he's not a very good scammer.

Switched over to the next set of talking points for if they didn't have an account and so he says no. This is your email, isn't it? And he reads it out. It was my email. But I said no, it's not.

Yes. So you, yeah, you really are playing dumb, yeah.

I said no, that's not. My email that that. Sounds like a stupid email. Who'd make that up anyway? So then he said, well, they're using your mobile number and then.

Yeah.

Like Ohh well, he's got me there because he knows my mobile number cause he's rung me. He's rung me on my mobile and I said, oh, OK, so how does that work? I don't really understand how they're using my mobile number to pay. And he goes, oh, well, I'll send you a text and it will show you here. Did you get the text? And I was like, oh, Yep. And he's like, OK, well, can you open?

This call to you on your. Hmm.

It and press the thing I'm like. Yep. Yep. I've pressed it. No, I can't say anything. So we're starting to get a little bit now because you know I'm meeting into the KPI's I'm meeting into because he's.

Right.

He's losing patience. Yes, it could be. It could have scammed three or four other people by now.

Exactly. He's probably got a quota and he probably needs to scan within, say, you know, 7 minutes and we're up to about 12.

So you. See and look, not all heroes wear capes now because the longer you keep him on there, the the less yes.

For about 12 minutes now. Exactly. I'm helping out people like ohh. Probably my parents who would get scammed. Amazon. Ohh yeah. Here's my credit card. Yeah. So anyway, we're we're.

Yes. Shut up and take my money.

He's going and he's getting frustrated cause he I clearly haven't pressed the link in the attachment and he goes well. Can you just put me on speaker, put me on speakerphone because I don't think you're pressing it right because you're talking to me on the phone. So if you put me on speaker, you'll be able to press. And I was like, oh, I'm really sorry. I'm at work. I can't put.

Yep.

You on speaker cause everyone will stare at me.

Yeah.

And so this is where he's probably doubled the KPI and he's gotten. Agree. And he goes to me. OK, well, I know what we can do here. Here's what we can do from. Here. And I was like, he's having a bit stern. Ohh, where's?

This guy lost his patience.

This gone here's what we can do. Why don't you go on to Amazon.com, go and purchase the biggest tub of Lube you can find and shove your iPhone up your. And hung up on me. And I felt so violated because I thought, like, I don't know, because we've been on the phone so long. I thought he knows, I know, and he knows. I know he knows. We've kind of got this little dance going on and we're having a bit of fun here. And I felt like, well, I don't know. I felt a little slight connection here. And then he.

Yeah.

You pull the pin.

He says that and I was so offended and I felt a pain in my nether regions just from him saying it. I was so offended and I just kept playing it in my mind for a good three hours, get upset about it. A.

You weren't. Yeah. You're upset when it happened. I I it was. It was interesting. And that that is a.

Be honest.

Yeah.

Burn. That is a really good burn. It is, yeah.

So I wanna actually call up the scam centre and make a complaint. Well, that's not how you. Went to court.

I don't know that that's a complaint, I mean. Yeah.

But then I started feeling guilty, because then I thought, well, if. He hasn't hit. His quota for the day. Maybe he's not gonna get paid. Maybe I'm just. Well, I don't know. Maybe he's fired, and maybe he doesn't get paid. I don't know. I've. I've got so many questions.

Well, what's your punishment in the scam centre for not meeting your KPIs?

Wow.

He needs to work on his patience. You know what he needs to do, actually, just to sort of get a little to learn, a bit more. Patience is just go to IKEA and buy some flat packed furniture and and put that together with his wife. Really though, that is quite heroic. That is quite heroic, taking up all of that guys time because they're ********.

In the old days, when you got my grandmother. Called them bogus callers.

A bogus caller.

A bogus caller which was a prank caller and you would play the recorder down the phone. Well, she did a whistle cause she had a man that used to ring up and say to her. I'd like to be your housekeeper and I'll do your housework in the. Nude.

Yeah. Wow.

And he'd bring. Her probably once every couple of weeks and put the offer on the table so she just bought a whistle and. Blew the whistle down. The. Floor. So I think I'm gonna keep the recorder near my mobile and next time old mate calls, I'll give him a blast of that tune.

They are. We're so tricky, yeah.

That's a good idea.

Play the Entertainment Tonight. Theme adding. Yeah, for the hatches matches and dispatches. Clue. You know one one more thing too. Just with these prank calls. Remember when you go to school and somebody had phone in a bomb threat?

Hmm.

What? Yeah. Haven't you ever had that? It's only funny to bomb threat at my school. Once we got evacuated down on the Oval. Yeah, they phoned in a bomb threat that never happened so much after September 11, though. That that didn't happen. Yeah. Anyway, it was the hatches. Matches. It dispatches clue like I was saying. It's a segment that we do at the end of the show. We do a clue at the start.

Scottish. Ohh my God. Ohh no no.

Try and keep you listening through to the end, which is just a really tricky technique. It's a bit of a scam on our behalf. Really. Yeah. And this week is what is it this week? It's a disc.

Yes. Such what is? He said.

Yes. Ohh it is very sad. Ohh, I don't like this one at all. A celebrity who passed away this time 20 years ago. Who said this?

I I think heroes are people who have ordinary circumstances and have to fight through incredible obstacles. I mean, the day in and day out struggle, you know, for insurance and all that. And so I have it pretty easy by comparison. I I think those ordinary people who are working really hard, they're they're the American heroes.

Yes, indeed. And the ones that keep those scammers at Bay, we'll find out who that is at the end of the show.

On the 11th of October 2004, four human bones are unearthed at a reputed Gambino family burial ground on the Brooklyn Queens border, where FBI forensic teams had been digging for eight days at this point. A spokesperson for the Bureau, James Margolin, said the bones appear to be a tibia, fibula, hip or pelvis bone, a piece of jawbone and either a part of a foot or a hand, as well as a watch and a pair of. Glasses.

Hmm, this is very suspicious. This is obviously got some kind of connection to the mafia. Now, this place where they found these bones is quite well known and in 1980. One the body of Banano crime family, Captain Alphonse Sonny Red Indelicato was discovered at the same lot in Ozone Park in Queens in New York by children who saw his arm poking out through the soil. Yes, they didn't do a very.

Ohh surprise.

Good. Job and it was following tip offs from.

Ohh my gosh.

Mob informants the FBI had been digging through concrete and sifting through dirt there. This time 20 years ago, in the hopes of finding victims of the Gambino family, they thought they may find anywhere between 5:00 to 20 bodies. That's a lot of bodies. Now the Gambinos are one of the five major Italian American mafia families that dominate organised crime in New York and New York State. And they took their name from Carlo Gambino, who became the boss in 1957 and LED it to prominence. There's other notable bosses, including Paul Castellano and John Gotti, who obviously they called the Teflon Don, who actually assassinated. Paul Castellano to become the Don. Anyway, there's this guy on a podcast called How Crime Works, which I think is great. How crime works. It's like I don't think that's legal. Welcome to how crime works. Yes. John Panissi is a former member of the Lucchesi family. It's very unfortunate. Surname, John panissi.

Take over. That's helpful.

But he can explain it much better than I could.

So the five families in New York are. The Genovese family. There's the Gambino family. There's the Lucchese family. There's the Colombo family and the Banano family. So when they created the structure of the five families, they set it up more like a military from the bottom of that pecking order. You have the associates. Who are considered civilians? Anybody that's not a made member of that life is considered a civilian. Above them are the made members of the family, which are called friends. We call them friends in that life, above them are captains, as we say, capital regimes. They're the head of the cruise family. Is represented by all the crews that are in that family and then above them are the administration of the family. The top of the administration is the boss. The underboss and the conciliate. And that's the structure of the whole family.

You got it. It's kind of like the military.

That was that was a very good mafia explainer, actually. It's much better than.

Yes, it was.

What you would have done.

I I would have had a shocker. So. So you got the five families. The relationships are very complicated with these families.

Because sometimes they work together and then other times they're in conflict with each other, and then they're also in conflict within the the family unit as well, like how.

Yes.

We saw.

With assassination of of Castellano, yeah.

The the body guy that killed the other guy, that happens, that happened quite a bit, the internal power.

Struggles. Yeah, it's a it's just. It makes for fascinating reading viewing. I mean, it's this, this sort of stuff is the inspiration of for films like Goodfellas and Donnie Brasco and whatnot. Great, great movies, always great story.

Will it does. Lots of movies.

So. So there's lots of power struggles in between the families all the time. Tensions but they they maintain their relationship, they do their best to maintain their relationships and sometimes things spill over internally, externally and just in general. So a week after they find these bones.

The jaw, the tibia, the fibula, the hip or hand.

In.

Yes, all hands in in the park authorities have confirmed that they've found the remains. Of banano capos fill lucky Phil or feel lucky Giaconi and Dominic, Big Trin Trinchera and they identified that Gee, Tony was who he was due to some of the personal property that they found with his bones like a a peer jet watch. Which matched a description given by some of the family associates, and they thought they they were able to identify Trinchera after finding his credit card and other pieces of property with his bones as well.

So rewind back to 1981. The arm got the arm that was hanging out of the the sand or.

Yamaha, yes.

The dirt or whatever. The kids found sunny. Sunny. Yes.

Red. Yeah. Indelicato. Yeah.

He was a. Captain in the Banano family, he tried to take over the family with Giaconi and Trinchera. The two remains that they've just found now. Yeah. So the three of them were plotting. And so they're plotting led to their murder. All three.

M.

Were actually murdered. I think it was around 1981, allegedly in a Brooklyn social club.

Yes.

Bob and that was ordered. So there was a hit put out allegedly by Joseph Massino. So he was the he was. So he was the Banano boss and they were trying to take over, I think was what was going on. He thought they're trying to undermine his control. And he was later convicted, I think around this time a little bit before or a little bit after of.

He's he's with. Bananas.

Yes. Hmm. He was on the yes.

Racketeering and murder. The authorities also believe that as many as six other murder victims were buried in the lot in the late 70s early 80s. It was basically a bit of a graveyard for all the hits that and, and I think multiple mafia families, not just one. I think a few of them used that particular area.

Hmm.

A dumping ground. Yeah, it's isn't that bizarre. This is like the the landfill.

Yes. Yeah.

What they're victims? Yeah. Hmm. It's kind of gross, but interesting.

Like, yeah, like if I go bucket or something.

Yeah. I wonder if, like if it how awkward it would be if you know, couple of cars rock up there at the same time. You know, you gotta, dude rolled up in a piece of carpet in the boot. And so the.

Ohh you turn up at the same time to bury your. Bodies. Ohh yeah, would you join forces though and just dig one big hole and put them in the one hole? Or would you dig separately?

Other guys you know like ohh. Yeah. Do we wanna just do you guys want in on this hole over here? Yeah. It'll save us a lot more time.

Yeah, what? How would how would that work? It would be a lot more economical, wouldn't it?

And look, they clearly don't like doing it because that dude in in the 80s, you know, his arm was hanging out of the bloody thing. They didn't even.

Hmm, maybe they got startled and had to leave part way through.

Bury him correctly.

They didn't finish it properly or something.

Well, maybe you know, I mean again, well again you know and when they're all when when this is the known location. It's like, you know when you go to the tip.

Maybe it rains, maybe there was heavy rains and it just washed the dirt away.

Hmm.

You know, you've gotta sort of you gotta wait, you know, until the the tips free. And then you reverse in and then you dump your stuff and then away you go. Maybe there's a time limit and you've got to be super quick. I don't know. I don't know what the protocol is around the use of this particular dumping ground.

Yes. Maybe. Maybe there's rules. Yeah, I'd like to know the rules that would be handy. I think they use cement as well, though I think they.

Hmm.

Coloured cement on some of the bodies because they said that they were digging up cement and and.

Yes. Well, Italians especially are really good with concrete. So that doesn't surprise me at all. Yes.

Hmm. So well, they bring a cement mixer in. How does that? Even work this sounds.

Yeah, like maybe some quick mix, I don't know.

Sounds like a lot of effort, is all I'm saying, and I don't think I could be bothered.

It's Doris. Well, they well.

Like I said, they didn't they. Kind of harassed it.

Yes.

That's why they found all these remains.

So they also thought that some of the Lucchesi family associates were there as well. Joseph Spione and Thomas Desmond.

Yes.

Moon another guy called John Favara, who was a furniture store manager who they say was killed because he accidentally ran over John, got his son when he ran out from behind a garbage container and then there.

Oh good.

Was also this big. Cargo heist in 1978. The Lufthansa Airlines cargo heist, which had something to do with them as. Well, and then there was a guy that was part of that and they think they they cause he did a bad job, so I think. They thought he was buried there as well.

Take him out to the to Ozone Park.

Allegedly. Allegedly. I don't want to offend any of these five families. Lots of. Allegedly, it's.

No, definitely don't want to offend the people.

Fair, but it's.

Very fascinating, isn't it? Very interesting.

It's it's extraordinary. And if you look at the way New York is divided up according to the five, the history of it is, is is amazing and just the history of them like they they basically ran the entire city.

Yes, yes. And the way they structured it very organised.

Ohh. Well, hence the term organised crime.

I'd be in lazy crime, lazy, disorganised crime. That's the one I'd do.

Yeah. Yeah. Well. That's all I think you.

Know half crime.

Not burying bodies correctly flies in the face of organised crime. Doesn't it, really? Yeah. And if it was organised crime then you wouldn't be showing up at Ozone Park at the same time as anyone else, would you? Not somebody.

Yes.

No.

Off as. Let's go to Serbia for some of this. Now you might be asking why is he? Why is he playing? Let there be rock by ACDC and the reason is is residents of a small Serbian village turned to music. Rock'n'roll music in particular to help so solve some of their farming dilemmas.

That doesn't feel very Serbian. Yeah. Why?

In the Gaucha Milanovic region in Serbia, this little village had a problem with wild boars running rampant through their crops and destroying them. And they tried fences and they tried scarecrows, and they tried all of that stuff. And that was really ineffective. But ACDC.

Ohh.

To the rescue. So they basically just blasted rock music as loud as they could to to the pigs, and they used ACDC and deep purple and whatnot as loud as they possibly could to to get rid of them, and it seemed.

To work, they said it worked. They felt it did. Yeah. I think the idea was loud and unfamiliar. Boys would act as a deterrent and they'd be startled by the sudden harsh.

Yes.

Hmm.

Announce it drew international attention at the time. It was all across the media because it was so unconventional. They didn't do any long term longitudinal studies on this, however, so we don't, we don't know if it was effective 100%, but it did work for some time.

Yes.

Now. Yes. I think that they should have tried the soft drink. Are all filled with war.

Hmm.

Just out on the in the paddock, you know, like when was that? That was the 80s.

Yes, yes, that. That was the 80s, yeah.

But my grandmother used to put them out on a front lawn under a conifers.

We did it, but that was back in the days when your dogs weren't fenced. Everyone's dog just roamed the streets.

Yeah, so, but straight was what was the thing with that? It was like.

So the dogs wouldn't wee on your trees.

If you put a bottle of water.

Liquid the dog would be like ohh I know the dog's weed in a bottle in there, so I better not weed.

Filled up.

On that, petunia.

Fill it up with water, seal it up and. Stick it on your front lawn.

Yeah, you'd have to soak the labels off first because we learned that the hard way. If you cause it, was a soft drink bottle. So if you left the fan to label on it was ineffective. You'd have to soak. The labels off so the bottle was clear.

Sad brand recognition.

No, I think it just it it it, it gave away the fact that it wasn't just another dog's weed.

Like, Oh no, sing there. That's a bottle of Fanta, yeah.

That's. So no, I still will. There the idea was.

Yes.

To stop them peeing.

Ohh yes, that's what I meant, I apologise.

Yeah, but that was back in the day when dogs used to just hang. Out in the. Street then make prank phone calls at the end of the street in the.

Yes.

Telstra phone.

Ohh well, I mean you know.

What a time. To be alive.

What sort of? Music could you play to deter a? Dog. Hmm. Mariah Carey. Perhaps she's very high pitched that she'd be able to summon dogs with her voice, you know? I mean, I don't think a CD. Well, see, there was an opportunity to play dog eat dog by ACDC, but I've missed it. And it's kind of flown.

Yeah.

Yes, yes. Oh well, next time.

By right now. Oh well. Let's go over to sport. It is a big moment in sport where one of the greatest players of all time was making a debut for FC Barcelona in the football, this time 20 years ago. Lionel Messi, 17 years old or Lionel Messi, I think is probably the correct pronunciation, 17 years old.

Hmm.

He comes on as a substitute in the 82nd minute to replace. Echo and he.

Do you know who deco is? Cause I it it just when I read that I I thought that just sounds so firm and.

No. With a singular name.

Deco as if we'd all go. Oh yeah, in the place so plays Deco. OK, sure, sure, just seem very certain.

Ohh, the European European players. Yes, yes, he. Well, I'd say Deco would have been a a superstar in his own life. Yeah, the mess. He became the youngest player to represent Barcelona in an official match at that time and he didn't play for very long. But he showed a lot of potential. He was good at dribbling.

It's probably someone in. Yeah, someone important.

And making plays and whatnot. And he he goes on to become one of the greatest of all time. I don't have anything from his debut, but I do have the first goal he ever scored, which is a little bit later on for FC Barcelona.

Ronaldinho to Messi will he get? That first goal for Barcelo. Remember the name Lionel Messi at the age of 17 scored his first goal for Barcelona.

That was one of many, many, many goals.

Hmm. He became their all time top scorer, 672 goals in 778 games. He won 10 La Liga titles, 4 Champions League trophies, lots of domestic cup.

Hmm.

Balon Draw Award season 50 nines, which recognised him as the best player in the world multiple times. He broke lots of records, including the most goals in a calendar year.

Fixer, those. Yeah.

And he was the all time top scorer in La Liga. What does that mean? The league is that.

Yes, but. The the yes.

What La Liga is la?

I think it's La Liga, it's very big, lots of star players and lots of money. I think he scored 91 goals in in 2012 when he broke that record as well, which was extraordinary, but due to financial constraints, I don't think they could afford him by 2021 or they probably wanted to get some new blood in the team. So he left Barcelona in 2021.

Hmm.

Signed with Post Saint Germain and he was the world's highest paid footballer for five years out of six between 2009 and 2000. 14 where he was being paid over 40 million euros. €40 million. Yeah, yeah, yeah.

What's that? That's like three times our money isn't.

It.

Wow.

Yeah, it's a lot.

It's interesting though, because when we say he's the highest paid and he's one of these goats, I don't remember hearing his name that much. Like I still think of Becky. And Ronaldo with his haircut. Yeah, I don't recall hearing about Lionel Messi until I I saw a kid wearing a jumper of his on a uniform free day about a year ago. Yeah, that was probably my first.

Hmm.

Well.

Yeah, I think if you look, if you followed the sport, you would 100% know who he was.

Sighting. Probably yes. Good point. But he doesn't seem as as. Decorated as, say, about him.

He's just he's just not as him. He's not even.

He's just getting on with the game. He's not showboating as much.

You're not as ingrained in pop culture like you know. Listen, marrying a Spice Girl? No, he's he was just playing football. Really. Well, yeah. Yeah. And you know, those the Europeans a little bit.

He's not marrying a Spice Girl and he's not carrying on getting haircuts and he's. Yeah, OK. He's concentrating on his craft.

More sort of flamboyant but also guarded about their private life. Perhaps. I mean, he just wasn't part of that pop culture thing. He was very much a part of the sporting culture, though. People were very excited by young Lionel and he went on to prove that he was worth every penny for those teams.

Classy. I think in 2018 he was the first player to exceed. The €100 million benchmark in a calendar year with earnings of around €126 million.

Yeah.

Grow that includes endorsement bonuses and all that kind of stuff. He was the world's highest paid athlete in 2019.

Yeah, he was. And then and that's good because he wasn't playing much sport after that with COVID. No. So, you know, he had to secrete his money, put it away somewhere and save it for a rainy day or a pandemic.

Yeah.

Yeah.

Let's take a look at technology now. Did you ever review anything on Yelp?

No, I don't think I've ever reviewed anything in my life. I've thought about it recently because I'll get 25% off a pair of leggings, so I've seriously considered it, but I haven't moved to the actual writing of the review stage yet.

Yes. I I've done a few reviews on Googles but.

Have you? Ohh, that was when you were in your angry face wasn't.

No, I do well.

It. Wasn't it after our not our honeymoon after our wedding and we stayed in that? Tell and you weren't very happy with that. And then we had a a martini at a bar that you felt there wasn't enough olives.

It can't be the review there. Yes, and I did a review there and.

See, you're in your angry face. That's. That was when you were yelping. You were yelping. You were angry, yelping a lot.

It's more outrage. More outrage? Well, I mean it just. I I feel like Yelp is not a a positive.

For about a year. It's not really is it sounds a bit ******, bit whiny.

Term Yelp. Well it it, it sounds like you're wounded. You know, you've yelped, you've been wounded, you've let out a Yelp like you know, that's what happens when a.

Yeah, not just self whiny. Yeah, I didn't. I didn't get my 3 olives. I only got 2 in my my.

Yeah, that's what happens. If you accidentally tread on your dog, you know your dog gets under your they're your feet in the kitchen. Sometimes they certainly treat you and they're like, and you're like, oh, my God. I'm so sorry. Yeah. Yeah, that's what it sounds like. That's what Yelp is. And well. And So what we're talking about it is it was launched on the 13th of October in 2004 and.

Yellow. Ohh, I get so angry. Don't and. You feel so bad.

Yes.

Reese. Sorry, you only got 2 olives. Was yes.

And for those of you who are unfamiliar with it, which is probably nobody, I mean, unless you were born after that, which I'm starting to find that there's, you know, a lot of 18 and 19 year old people in the world that were. Born in 2004 and 9. No, I don't think they care, and they probably wouldn't know what a Yelp is. Yes, well, it was a site that would allow you to review local businesses like restaurants, but also shops and hotels and other services.

But I don't take that.

Listen to us. So I don't think we have to. Worry about that. No, no. No, probably not. The the interesting thing though, is it it was very big, I think. Mainly for things like restaurants and yeah, you particularly if you were staying somewhere that you didn't live and you were like, where am I? Gonna go to eat. What's good it was.

I used it when we were on our honeymoon in. 2012 yes.

It was, yeah, it was really helpful for that. If you if you had a specific. Thing in mind and then you go and see you go. Ohh, here's all these here's my choices. Let's see what the reviews equal and we'll pick the.

Yo.

Highest reviewed one but it.

Yeah.

Actually started, it was created by a guy called Jeremy Stoppelman and Russell Simmons as part of a startup called MRL Ventures. But it was conceived as a way to get recommendations for doctors. Mainly doctors and other local services, but then it evolves into. This platform where you share reviews and you rate the businesses and tourist attractions shops, but I think mainly food was was kind of where it found it niche.

Ohh yeah and even.

Yeah, and it was. It was also a search engine. Like you could search for businesses and then and that's how you discover things. And then read reviews and figure out. And you could leave your own ratings as well. If you're registered as photos, yes.

Hmm.

On photos. So it was kind of like Instagram before Instagram. Here's my lunch.

Yeah. Well, it's like a TripAdvisor, it's in the vein of like, Trip. But think of all of those things. That's pretty much what.

Hmm hmm.

Yes.

It was and that have very detailed descriptions of their experiences. Sometimes well written, sometimes very poorly written and and tips for future patients. And then businesses could claim their listing, so they put them on and they'd be like, yeah, that's us. That's us. Over on Yelp will claim that as well, but.

Ohh that's me.

Hmm.

Ohh cause could the businesses then reply to the reviews as well? Was that part of it and you could be like I'm so sorry that you didn't like the prawn cocktail come.

Yes, yes they could. Yeah. Come back in. We'll give you a.

Back and we'll. Give you a freebie and A and a garlic bread on the side.

Complimentary pool doctor. Yes, it may be a cob loaf as well.

Please please remove this horrible review. Thank you.

Yeah. Can you take it back? We'll we'll do anything. And that's that is I think the problem we.

Yeah, walk it back.

Yelp is obviously and pretty much pretty much anything that's on the Internet these days is you. You just can't have nice things because the platform becomes a bit of a wasteland, which is, I guess, what happened. But there was some stories and there was some backlash from some restaurant tours about Yelp.

Why whatever you like.

Give people a platform.

As well, no. Yelpers, a Tucson restaurant owner, has launched an All out war with Yelp.

Yelp publishes crowdsourced reviews of businesses online, and the owner of two veto Amore restaurants has posted no Yelpers banners near the entrance near side, Valerie Cavazos finds out why.

Well, thank you. We do our best.

That's the point owner Eric Museum wants to make, and Yelp reviews actually back up that statement. It's a four star. The restaurant. So why in the world would the owner want to put up this banner? No, yelpers.

Our reviews are great and that's why I want to be one of the people. To stand up and say something.

Where did he get the idea from South Park's you're not yelping episode.

Here you go. Crispy risotto bags from Olive Garden. I'm a restaurant. Credit matters. I get whatever.

I want they want the notoriety you earn badges for having reviews you earned online the claim and you know that's where their friends are and they they feel like this self. Entitled thing that they can bash us.

With no accountability, he says for false claims.

People can say whatever they want without any Fact Check. Thing.

Well, he's he's worried.

It's a it's a good point and.

He's quite defensive, though.

You, you. You. Usually don't go on to those sites to write nice things. You usually go on there because you're missing an olive. Although I will say I was. I was so so proud of you when you became the mayor of Wagamama 4 square.

Ohh yes yes, I used to check in there.

The horse care. Cause.

All the time.

I think we ate there a lot and you? Became the mayor and I. It was a really proud moment for me and I think.

Yes.

We got a discount. That was good.

They see I get like, buy one, get one free and also it's a wonderful thing.

And then we challenge each other because we go to the same places and it would be whoever checked in first gets to be the mayor.

Yes, well, that was bad because then if somebody took your title away from you, you'd have to go and check in as well. Yes. Nothing good can come of these things, unfortunately, although I mean, having said that, Yelp is still around now. And yes, people need to get their facts right and.

You're devo. You're devo. Yeah.

I mean the the Internet, the where are the facts ever correct on the Internet? Where are things ever factual? It's just it's just like put some information out there and run with it these days. And Yelp is probably no.

Exception. Well, there was a really helpful. Yeah, it's probably 1. Of my favourite Yelp reviews. For a pizza restaurant, I shouldn't. Be going there based on this 2. Star review.

Oh well.

My friend's leg is hurting now, pinched nerve because of your toilet seat, cause damage to her leg nerve causing numb. You need to get a flatter toilet seat, otherwise never returning back to your restaurant ever again. If you don't change the. Seat toilet needs to be lower. That's why the toilet seat caused problem. It's hard to go to the bathroom on a hard seat. It's like sitting in a tree branch, log pane, nail burning in legs because of the toilet seat. Please get U shaped flat toilet seat. The toilet seat is round like a pipe and it hurts the nerve. In legs.

Well, at least they gave advice.

Yes, they, yes, they offered solutions. They didn't just *****. They were like I'm gonna *****. But I'm gonna offer you some advice.

Yes.

Visit somewhere there's a restaurant critic that's that's read that and then thrown themselves off a building. I've wasted my life. I like this one. I must downgrade this to three stars after last bus I was on ran over 2 pedestrians. It kept.

Going ohh that was for bus companies bus.

Ohh dear. The Brooklyn zoo. If I could give this zero stars I would. I came all the way from Brooklyn. Well, you're at the Brooklyn Zoo. You came all the way from Brooklyn and come far and Ohh paid $65 for two tickets to watch a couple of Penguins get showered by a faulty sprinkler. No sharks.

Yes.

If you haven't come far.

One turtle that was questionable considering I didn't even see it move one. I'd rather risk my life again in Camden, NJ than come here chaotic, crammed and not worth the ticket price. Questionable turtles goodness me.

Oh wow.

Yes, here's another one. This is a three star I ate there. It's for a restaurant. I'm assuming. Obviously, unless they went to the zoo and ate the turtle. I ate there about 3 hours ago. Now I have diarrhoea. As far as Chinese buffets go. This one is pretty good.

Hmm.

Ohh well, you know that is a positive sign after an all. You can eat.

Yeah.

Means you've hit your equator.

Or you can ain't followed by. All you can secrete that's terrible.

One star for this restaurant I went to this restaurant and liked the food, but then the server leaned over me and. Whispered. Would you like a slight of death with that? Then he took my fettuccine and formed a pentagram on my table. No one acknowledged me after that. Don't go here or do whichever.

Right Fords theatre. I like. This is a landmark in.

Washington I think Washington, DC, correct.

Yes, in Washington, DC and and this is this review is by Abe, L from Washington, DC who gave it two stars and Abe says. Was murdered here. Would not recommend. I'm assuming the L is Lincoln, yes. Over the music, Mel.

We'll start with the Australian charts. Number one is still Maroon 5. She will be love.

All right.

No compliant. Fair enough.

Nah, I think they get a run somewhere else here anyway, don't they? No. Ohh, maybe that's next week. Ohh. Spoiler alert.

11.

Whoops.

UK had a new number one single radio by Robbie Williams.

Like. Yeah.

It's got the like an 80s Electro pop vibe to it, doesn't it?

Very, very different sound. Yeah, they compared that one to human league. Depeche Mode. Yeah, it was the lead track for his compilation album Greatest Hits.

Yeah. Hmm.

Love that he called the album Greatest hits classic Robbie and it marked a notable change in his style. Yeah, that Electro pop sound. It debuts at #1, obviously on the UK Singles Chart. That was his sixth.

Yeah.

UK number one single as a solo artist.

Fire. He was the flavour of, well, not only the months but quite a couple of years. He was very popular in the UK.

I'm very excited because there's a do you say? Biopic or biopic, I say biopic, But is it?

Biopic it depends on what sort of mood I'm in and and how nervous I am.

What mood are you in tonight? How are you feeling? You feeling?

I'm. I'm feeling kind of biopic, yeah.

Biopics.

OK.

Well, yeah, there's a biopic coming out, and they had a I think they had a screening. I'm so confused. I was reading things on the Internet and I think the Internet's.

Hmm.

Trying to trick me.

Could be a could be a furphy you should. It's probably just something that some frustrated ex Yelp reviewer has posted.

Biz. Yeah. What? It was on a a number of different news sites and people are talking about it, but I think it's a joke I don't understand. But they said something about there's a monkey that's playing him like CGI monkey plays his role in the biopic. It was really weird. And so then I tried to find a trailer and there's no trailer and it's all really secretive. And then there's all these AI voices talking about it and.

Yes, that's that's that's.

So very mysterious and.

Ohh yeah, how many how many stars?

I well, I don't know because it it's just all very cryptic. I'm not.

I'll give it one star for the monkey. Who's the star?

Not, I'm not. I don't understand cause and they talking about the actors in there. So they're saying like he plays an older version of himself and then they're talking about this other guy plays the younger version of. Him I'm like. Well, that's not a monkey, clearly. So where's the monkey? What's what's this? Monkey story? I don't understand, but I'm sure by the time this is released, it will all be revealed. And I'll just sound like an idiot.

Hmm.

Well, I can't help you there. Let's have a listen to the top five from the Billboard charts over in the United States of America.

OK, let's do that.

Bye.

Although.

It's not.

Just pull up my pants, do the rock away.

Leave. Leave, leave.

Oh, oh oh.

I did my interval sprints to that song the other day on the treadmill. Yeah, my double time. My double time to the music.

To. Goodies. Did you did?

You have a sports bar on.

Good. Ohh yes.

Because the goodies they need to stay in the bra.

Gotta keep them back in the. Yeah, you don't want to putting your eye out or anything like that. It's very dangerous.

Oh, Oh yeah, it's pretty locked down tight at the top end of the charts, but a little bit. Looser at the.

Bottom yes, my book #2 lean back #3 my place #4 and we have a new entry this week. Lose my breath, Destiny's Child.

I'm not a fan of that song, but there I do like the use of the marching band. Drummers. Yeah. So I think that's really cool.

The drum. That's. Cool. I think a lot of marching bands do perform. That song as a result. These days it's very popular. They hold the.

How? How did they go?

Do they like how the crowd?

Just felt a bit trellis. No, they they they make the noise and they hold the sticks like that. They do it like that, don't they? They hold it out to the side and they wear the drum. It's like an accessory, yes.

Of course, yes.

Yes. Yes, they do. Yes, it's all very formal. Yes, yes, it's usually 1 drum per drummer.

Yeah, and they dressed up. Yes, but this. That is very popular for the drumming people in. The drum things at the sport. It's not baby boy. It's lose my breath. I actually thought this song was Beyoncé I didn't realise.

So they play baby boy. Ohh, that doesn't surprise me. Ohh yes sorry. She said baby boy in it, which confused me.

She did, and that confused me because I'm like, oh, that's Beyoncé. I was like, no, actually, it's Destiny's Child. It's not. Beyoncé, it's Destiny's Child.

Well, this must be we must be getting towards the end of Destiny's Child.

Well, it's their final studio album. Destiny fulfilled lead single because they've all gone off and done their own thing over the last couple of years. Kelly, obviously, and Nelly and all that stuff in her album and then Beyoncé releases hers a bit later on, and all of those singles go to #1 and everyone's very excited. Michelle did a gospel album, but nobody seemed to care.

Right there we go.

Yes.

Yes. Yeah.

Yeah.

No. No, they didn't.

Ohh Michelle, I liked Michelle. But anyway, so this one was written by all three of them as well as Rodney 9, Jerkins and Jay-Z. So maybe this is where the romance started. Jay-Z helped wrote he wrote something. I think he wrote.

Uh, yes. Says. Are you working on? I'll lose my breath.

I think he. Wrote the chorus or something? I don't know. He did something on there. I think he rapped, too, didn't he?

Yeah. Did.

Ohh no Jay-Z. Ohh sorry, I didn't mean to say his name. Yeah, we'll get. We'll actually, we'll get. We'll get to that in a minute. Yeah.

Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa.

So there's some marks. They come back after the hiatus, so they they all went off and did their solo thing and then they come back. Together. For Destiny fulfilled, and it was a strong statement because I think people were starting rumours, they're having fights and that's why they're doing their own.

Yeah.

These two friends. There's no friends so good. It's became a very popular song for dance battles because of the aggressive beat and high energy dance routines. Intense choreography.

They're like, yeah, no, we're cool. We're.

Solid.

Yeah. So I could see some. Cheerleaders popping and locking.

Yes, been used in a lot of dance competitions.

Uh.

Oh.

It's so aggressive. In fact, they were doing rehearsals for the video clip. Yeah. Beyoncé tore her hamstring.

Ohh no, she's beat Beyoncé queen bees. Done a hammy.

She's done a hammy. She had an injury. She was overdoing it to the song and she was told to stop dancing for a week. Apparently she's got magic healing powers and she.

Yeah. Wow.

Hmm.

Was all right. She was OK.

Is OK cause the well cause the hamstring is connected to the buttock and you know she shakes that buttock and it's and it's quite gelatinous and firm and it moves in all the right places.

Yes. How are you going to twerk? It isn't gelatinous. The opposite of fur.

It's firm but gelatinous, and it moves in all the right places. I'm telling the story here.

OK, OK.

All right, well, you've probably looked at it more than what? I have, so we'll.

And I'm just thinking with that momentum, with that with, you know, if you twerk a little bit hard, you'd sort of twerk and then you tweak something, yes.

Go. We'll go. Yes. Takes all the muscle groups. Yeah. Yeah, potentially, potentially.

So you know, it's all you've got is that little hamstring holding that butter.

Well, it it was a miracle. It was a Mira. She was alright and production was filmed as originally planned and her leg healed and she's fine.

I don't think. I don't think it's a miracle. I I think this just again subscribing to the conspiracy theory that Beyoncé is a demon like you. I reckon if you cut her leg off.

The fiancee? Miracle. Then the healing powers stamen healing powers. If you're a demon or you would grow back, wouldn't it? Yeah, yeah. How quickly would it grow back? Do you?

Yeah, exactly. She'd grow it back and the little cloven hoof at the end of it. Ohh like I don't.

Think. Know you'd watch it grow, but it would grow fairly far, so I'd say maybe. A minute 37 seconds.

I I think she'd need a little bit of time. Like I was thinking, you know, maybe overnight.

Overnight, given the right conditions.

You know.

Just sort of wrap it up. Just go to bed and wake up the next morning. New new leg with cloven hoof at the.

Well, anyway, it was a miracle.

End of it.

It's a miracle. And she danced. And.

Hmm.

We're all happy.

Speaking of demons, Speaking of demons, there's an album, an album release, a big fan of this album, huge fan of this band. We go to the World Music section. Now these guys are from Poland, they're called behemoth and they released an album called Demigod.

Ah, OK yes, we need more demons. Nonsense.

Yes, that was behemoth with conquer all from the album demigod on the World Music Channel here at T -, 20 seventh studio album by Polish extreme metal band Behan. They they've moved more towards, I guess black metal these days. They got lots of black metal seams, but that's definitely got more of a death metal sound.

What's the difference between what's the difference between extreme metal, black metal and death?

Metal. Well, they're.

All sort of extreme metal death metals that that more sort of grindy, growly. Whereas black metal is a little bit more orchestral and has more sort of high pitched wailing.

Ah.

Is a. There is definitely a distinction between the sounds of the genre. And this one was very intense. It was very technically precise and the vocals are quite brutal obviously, but this shows behemoth moving into more of a death metal sort of mould while they maintain that sort of black metal look that they have. And they use lots of glass.

It did sound that yes.

It's very it's very at. This ferric and it draws very heavily on cause they're not very big fans of Christianity, but.

Was there a lot at church on Sunday?

They're no, they're they're very into like the ancient mythology, paganism. They're very anti religion and the titled demigod refers to a being who is part human, part deity, reflecting that sort of focus, power, rebellion, esoteric knowledge, now behemoth. As a consequence, Poland is quite a conservative country.

Hmm.

Who could grow their leg? Back. Ohh is it that are?

And yeah.

I don't like that music.

This this the, the the singer from the band Nergal, otherwise known as Adam Darsky, is a very interesting character and he is quite famous over in Poland now. In fact he was a judge on the Polish version of the Voice. I kid you not, he was a. Didn't last very long, but he was and it. But, but because of the content, in 2017 they were in court in their home country of Poland because blasphemy in Poland is a crime. And you can go for to prison for up to two years, maybe even longer and and Nergal.

Amy.

Amazing.

Ohh.

Wow.

And the graphic designer for a T shirt that they made appropriated, I think the Polish flag for one of their logos, and they've done various other things. They've been charged with offending religious feelings. That was the charge.

Oh, you can't do that.

He's been in and out of court for almost 8 years for various things like ripping up Bibles on stage and stomping on photos of the Virgin Mary. And of course, that thing I was talking about with the the national emblem of Poland. He's been fined, he's appealed, he's won money back. He's been counter fined. People have appealed against him again. He continues doing this so. Stuff and it's gone on and on. And I think recently in July this year, he was actually acquitted of all the the charges of blasphemy and and and the and a lot of the cases or or a a specific case was thrown out of court. But the struggle goes on and he lives to offend people. But he's quite an astute businessman.

And then they let him on The Voice. That's interesting too, isn't it?

Yeah. And he's quite an astute businessman. He runs a bunch of Barber shops now as well. He's very good with the. I tell you, for death and black metal, if you look at the amount of.

For all your hairy demigod needs, come and get.

The the brand, the brand awareness, the brand awareness, that's behemoth, have very good quality branding, great T-shirts, awesome products. Nurgle also runs a chain of Barber shops called Barbarian Over in in Poland, he's he's a very astute businessman. His autobiography is incredibly interesting.

A short backing size.

Hmm.

He had leukaemia. And and almost died and was saved by a bone marrow donor. Just another really interesting thing about his story. And they were like they said to him at the time when he was reflecting on his near death experience. Did you find any religion and spirituality? And he's just like, no, he's an interesting.

How you doing?

Wow.

Character and they are quite a fascinating band if you can stomach that kind of extreme music. I'm a huge fan.

We have another album release, probably not so much a huge fan.

Well, you've got a it's light and shade, right? Like you know, you can listen to demigod by behemoth and then when you need to chill out.

When you need to switch gears, a bit of James Blunt back to bedlam.

Yes. Which is really interesting title when you've got.

You're beautiful. You're beautiful. It's true. I saw your face. In a crowded place and I don't know why.

That was such a massive hit for him.

Yeah, well, that was his breakout. He wasn't it. That's what really.

Ohh. It was everywhere, everywhere at the time. And then there was.

Made him a star.

This other one as well.

Goodbye, my lover. Goodbye, my friend. You have been the one. You have been the one for me. Goodbye, my lover. Goodbye, my friend. You have been the one. You have been the one for me.

Oh.

James, like cheer up mate.

It's sad, isn't it? Back to bedlam. It was the debut studio album for British singer songwriter James Blunt. It was a major commercial.

Yeah.

It says mainly thanks to the song. You're beautiful.

Yes.

Yeah, I think that was one of those insurance ads type songs, wasn't it? Didn't it? That did that, that did the run on a bunch of commercials.

Yeah, baby is on something.

I'm sure. Hmm.

Yeah, yeah, it reached number one in the UK, sold over 11,000,000 copy. These worldwide, that's the your beautiful song. It peaked at #2 on the Billboard 200. In terms of albums, state of the charts for an extended period. Everyone loved it. I remember we went to stay with your dad around that time and he's like, come and look at the house computer. But his house computer was in the shed.

Yeah.

That started she he kept the.

Yeah.

House computer in the shed and there was a parody, remember called in my cubicle. And it was about the workplace and sitting in.

Ah.

A beige cubicle. We all had a good chuckle.

That's always. That's good. I'm glad it was good because, you know, you never know which way it's gonna go. When your parents wanna show you something funny that they've found on the Internet. Look what I found.

It was good.

It was a good parody. Something I'm going to ask computer and I look. Yeah, I know I like. Oh, gosh, this is a bit risky. Are we sure? Yeah. No, it was good. It was good. It was worth it was worth the time. Investment was that.

On the Internet.

So oh.

Well, well.

Glad.

Yeah, it was like a beige cue in my in my cubicle. I'm sure it's on the YouTube. For anyone who's interested, but.

In my cubicle. Yeah. OK. Yeah, good.

It's too. I don't know what the other words were, but it was. Something about sitting. In a queue and I was like, yeah, great.

Weird Al Yankovic has a lot to answer for. Really, when it comes down to that.

Yes.

Sort.

That's true.

Of stuff over to music news. We've got some music news. There's some very more controversy. I think you just if, when too much controversy isn't enough, we've got you and this.

Ah.

Hmm.

Week there's more controversy.

Yes, Michael Jackson got very upset with Eminem this week 20 years ago, calling the rap Stars video or which was spoofing him, calling it outrageous and disrespectful. So the video we're talking about is the just.

Hmm.

Lose it so. Just lose it. Is that single and he. He is bagging out Michael Jackson. I think pee Wee Herman. He's he's bagging out. He. I mean, that's what.

Hey.

He does, that's.

That's our Rangers and disrespectful.

I I think that's probably how. It went yes and the video clip was released around this time 20 years ago.

Who's back with a brand new rap? And I don't mean rap as in a new case investigation accusation. No worries. Bubba's got a brand new bag of toys. What else could I possibly do to make noise I don't touch on everything but little boy that's not a stab at Michael. That's just the metaphor. I'm just psycho.

So there was there was the the lyrical reference, but also in the video clip he was dressed up as Michael Jackson and and quite an iconic ending to the clip because his nose falls off. Remember that bit? And it falls on the Dan.

Yes, I remember.

That's right, his nose did follow.

Floor and the kicking the nose around and then a stiletto steps on the nose and.

Yes.

It's trying to find it's yes.

It's like I just let me. Get my nose back.

Eminem doesn't care, does he? Yes.

And it's just floating all around and it's great. It's a great video, great song.

I was gonna say he he gives 0F's, but he gives a lot of FM and M and then Michael Jackson came out after with the response to the video after seeing and he's like.

Yes.

Yes, I'm very angry at evidence depiction of me in this video. I feel that it is outrageous and disrespectful.

And that's what he he's talking to Steve Harvey. Yeah. Steve Harvey, the guy that stuffed up the Miss Universe thing. Yeah. And the family feud go.

Yes, Steve Harvey, yes. That guy, yes.

It is one thing to spoof, but it is another to be demeaning and insensitive. I've admired him and him as an artist and was shocked by this, Jackson added. The video was inappropriate and disrespectful to me, my children, my family and the community at large.

Never mind the fact that this point in time he's awaiting trial.

It's yes, exactly. Sorry. How is it disrespectful to the community at large? It's it's very specific.

For all of the things. Which we won't go into, but. No one, no. No one wants to see it and nose floating around the dance floor. It's offensive.

Is he well? Is he talking about the community of sex?

Offenders, all of all of our sex offenders, are offended.

Or people who've lost their lives on a dance. Floor. That's offence if.

Yes.

You've ever dropped your nose while you're out partying. That would be quite offensive. I I love Eminem and I.

Hmm.

Love that he like. That's not point in time. That's his whole career has been.

Offence.

But it's been about but it he's usually calling out people that.

Right.

Have done the wrong thing. Let's just say like.

There's a fear.

It's a good let's just say it's a good thing he doesn't live in Poland cause he's in big troubles.

It is, it is he'd. Yes, he'd been a lot of trouble, but it's something that I discovered the other day. It was on the TikTok, but I saw it on Instagram because I don't go to the TikTok with and someone put the TikTok on the Instagram with his latest single.

Oh yeah.

Fuel. Have you got it? Yeah, I do.

He didn't just fail the word rapper and leave out a peep.

So break that down for you re APR, he didn't just spell rapper and leave out a P Diddy.

Yes. Hmm.

That's so good. That is, that is, lyrically, that is extraordinarily good.

And this. So it's only been released quite recently, but it was recorded before all this stuff has gone down.

Right. So obviously in flying that everyone kind of knows.

So he knows.

Hey.

He well, he's. He and 50 Cent have both been pretty vocal about the whole thing for many, many, many, many years.

Going after P Diddy.

Hmm.

And yeah, talking about what actually goes on and so that, yeah. So he recorded that before all of this stuff went down. But it's only just I think it's only just been released recently on the album, but wow. Wow.

Ah.

Yeah.

Ohh man. I mean P Diddy is just so.

He's in big trouble.

I know and I just. I'd like to take back all the jokes we made about him being a paperboy and how he was funny and a loose unit over the. Years. I've just no.

Well, well, in the I think I we don't know much like I don't know the gory details, but I can imagine I can speculate. And then and then I think contextually now when you watch some of those things, those interviews and interactions that he had with people in the past.

Yeah.

Yeah.

Yeah, and and just the fact that celebrities are doing things like deleting their Twitter account syndrome. Moves and and and then there's like guys like Ashton Kutcher, for example, who has just been, like, used to go to the parties and and has just been called out in the media about that. Now, Ashton Kutcher was running a programme like he's he's done some philanthropic stuff and he's and. And I'm not diminishing what he did, but I find it interesting.

Hmm.

That he's run that programme called Saun, which was to basically catch a online predators that were chasing children. And and I'm not saying, well, I'm not saying anything. I'm not alleging anything, but I in in the context of now with him being called out for going to Diddy parties and being associated with Diddy.

In terms?

Of.

Yeah, yeah. Yeah.

Hmm.

Sir, it's ohh, it's messy.

I know I don't think we can use that pro. We can use that proactive joke anymore. I don't think we can cause when he was just being a pest. But no. Now I think we just have to park that and there's gonna.

And not Lionel. All the thing with these.

Be no more. Did he use proactive first or anything like that? We just have to move on from that.

Yeah, I don't know any brand that would want to be associated with him these days, except for maybe like a VPN. Company.

Umm, I've seen Costco come out and say that they weren't responsible for any. Products that were.

Ohh cause of.

The baby oil. That's right. He's when he had that they found all the baby oil in his house.

Umm, because someone someone made a comment that he'd bought it in bulk from Costco and they came straight. I go. Oh no, we. Don't sell that.

Loving us, everyone's running a mile from this.

We're staying way away. That.

Guy. Yeah. Wow. Yeah. Look, it's, it's. Pretty boring on the big screen at the moment, Shark tale is the number one at the box office. I think in our country and in the states. And yeah, it's it's, I don't. I'm not really interested in seeing will fish will fish. Will Smith pretend to be a.

I didn't. Yep.

Fish.

So let's go to TV. Let's just go to TV.

Smith.

Ohh yes, we had a big premiere here in Australia on the 13th of October 2004. We had the Australian version of Border Security premiering on the seven.

Network. That's right. This was a reality series that showcased the work of border control agencies as they enforce immigration laws. Quarantine. Mean customs policy. This was such a great thing for this particular government department. I think as far as publicity and media and stuff, it was just it showed, you know, frontline workers doing a great job to keep our borders secure. Hmm. Yeah. Like it is. Most of it was.

Yes. Yes. Keeping the. Yes, keeping the borders safe, yes.

Focused on airports.

They're so helped. You know what? You probably shouldn't pack in your bag when you're going.

When you're when you're going away on flights.

Away won't won't take that.

And stuff. Yeah, well, that's the thing. Like it's.

Snake skin with me when I go overseas.

Right. So it's not only. An entertaining show cause like ohh what has this person got in their luggage? But it's also teaching you what not to do and that's wonderful. Yes. So mainly airports but also seaports.

Formative helpful. Exactly it's role modelling. Ohh there was quarantine, so there was the letters. They opened the mail. They found some weird things in the mail.

Some male male centres, yes. Yes, because they're trying to always identify illegally.

They found some shingle back lizards that were still alive in the mail. That's.

That's right, people were shipping ships. Wax for little lizards.

Terrible. Terrible. They were alright though, everybody.

Yes, good. Thank you. Yeah, like travel people not declaring stuff. People like filling up, yes.

They were all right, which is good. With money, how many people brought money in? They just have these wads of cash and they declare no, no, no money.

Yes.

And people filling out forms incorrectly on the plane you. Know when you have.

I get so stressed about that. Do you? I always go. Have I ticked the right box, have I? Declared like the A.

Yeah, you'll find out pretty quick.

Couple of times I've done it. I have been so nervous because I'm like I don't wanna.

Hmm.

Be on board. With. Security. I don't want the cavity search.

Yeah, they jump on you too. Yeah. No, I don't. I definitely don't want to be on that. And I certainly don't want to be cavity searched.

No.

No.

No, that would be incredibly confronting. That would be, you know, like going to a Diddy party.

Or being told where to stick your iPhone.

Exactly. They might find one, you know, follow the instructions of their scammers.

Maybe you never know. You never. Well, I. A scammer told me to do it.

Yes. Ohh my God. Look, we haven't found anything fraudulent, but there's a phone up here.

It's not my fault. Hang on. I've just gotta take.

A call.

I certainly hope you switched it to vibrate. At least make some fun. Out of it.

Ohh dear, so they followed multiple cases per episode, so there's usually 3 or 4 things going on and they're sort of spliced between them and it would start with an alarm.

Yeah.

Going off and you. Go. Oh, here we go. Just give me good. I can hear the. Bells ringing like this one.

Yes.

Your food packages have. Back for traces of drugs.

A retired Australian couple has just been told the bag they have brought back for a family friend.

We come back, we're trying to love drums.

Has packets of food that may contain the precursive drug that is used to manufacture ice.

And.

I'll never take money. You can check me, he said. He said you take it a second. No room, he said I can't get the bag and put in the bag. The father is coming tomorrow.

Such.

OK.

It's still in there, still didn't get nothing.

Who are you going to give the packages to is someone?

His sister, about to pick it up the bag, get.

Going to meet your. Girlfriend, your girlfriend's sister?

Old enough, OK.

Yeah.

They chemical test of the contents of the food packets will be conducted to confirm that it is ephedrine.

It's positive to drink.

I wanna go home. A 67 year old woman.

The couple will be taken to a private room for further questioning by investigators and be frisk searched.

We're just trying to ascertain now whether they had knowledge of what was in the packages of food, a customers investigation unit will be coming and they will conduct some interviews with the passengers to help in that matter.

Yeah.

Ohh, the poor they were. They were acquitted. I watched to the end and they did like the footnote at the end and they.

Poor nothing, were they?

Were like they were. Cleared of all wrongdoing, they they were innocent.

They they were cleared were.

So, hang on where we're. Still pretty Chappelle Corby, aren't we? Cause that's next year. So if she'd watched border security, maybe none of this would ever happen because you never take, you never take a bag.

Is it? Should have picked up some tips.

You're a friend. You never take a bag, OBO somebody else. Chappelle had just watched border security on the Seven network.

Well, that's so that's right.

Could have avoided all of that rigmarole.

I just I think that the the 67 year old retired couple coming back into the country is is the perfect cover story. Well, they were acquitted. So it doesn't matter that. But I think that if if you were going to commit the perfect crime, as far as smuggling, then you know it's it's the old bumbling Mr Magoo.

Do you think they they're they're lying. Well, no.

Types that you could use to be your mules.

Who's the one that gets who's? The one that has been profiled at every airport lately when we've been on a plane. Me and our son, I always have to do the shoes off and go through the special thing.

You, yes. Yes.

The other day. I got. I got **** touched. I got **** touch, so she put me through the special thing and then I had the wands. And then she's like, have you got zippers on your boots? I was like, yeah. And then she's like, I just have to stick my hands down your boots.

Did you? Yeah.

Yes. And then she decides.

Right.

So she stuck her hands down my boots, and I was like, it's probably a bit stinky but.

Yeah, let's.

Sure. Go for.

Yeah.

And then she's like, do I have permission to pat you down? And I'm like, sure, but she, like, fully touched my *****. It was really weird, but I every time I I am the one that always gets pulled to the side.
